Nursing and Personal Care
Your care in expert hands
Our 45 qualified nursing sisters, staff nurses and trained care assistants provide 24-hour care for people with a wide range of nursing and personal needs. Clients soon see that we care in the fullest sense of the word. This reflects the personal qualities of our staff as much as their professional standing.
"I like the friendliness of the staff and the informality of the home. They'll do anything for you and their patience is endless."
In addition to general nursing, a number of our senior nurses have extensive hospice and/or palliative care experience, giving us exceptional levels of expertise in nursing people with progressive, incurable physical illnesses. The include all types of cancer and neurological conditions such as MS (Multiple Sclerosis), MND (Motor Neurone Disease) and Parkinson's Disease.
All nursing staff and care assistants are appropriately qualified and experienced to meet the needs of our residents, however complex, and each resident has a detailed personal plan which covers his or her physical, psychological and social care. The protection of dignity and personal privacy is paramount to all our nursing care which reflects the preferences of each individual resident.
Our ratio of qualified nurses to care assistants is high, almost 1:2, and our ratio of qualified nurses and care assistants to residents is also high at 1:3. Several teams of nursing and care staff are on duty throughout the day, with another team on duty during the night.
Medical
We employ a well regarded, local GP service to make regular, routine calls to our residents. As well as extensive experience of general medicine, our doctors have particular expertise in palliative care and hold the Diploma in Palliative Medicine, the highest qualification that GPs can have in that specialism.
Broomgrove cares for those with dementia or mental illness only if their condition is secondary to a serious physical illness or does not require specialist intervention.
